The War and Treaty Milwaukee Concert reviews
Pearl Jam Concert - One word - WOW
I have always been a fan of The War and Treaty. Although I don't "celebrate their entire catalog", after that show I will pick up the new one. Ben Harper was incredible as well; I have never seen a slide guitar rocked that hard!
The classics were the usual suspects of Once, Evenflow, Daughter, and Black. They played a mix of songs from their entire career with most if not all of the new ones interspersed. Once and Evenflow were played faster and harder than their album versions and this fit in well with how hard the rest of the show was. The The War and Treaty set was 2 hours and composed 3 parts, each with a background change and the middle set with an equipment change and Eddie Vedder doing some solo tunes (and a duet with some lady from another band).
I am glad I did not pay the high ticket price for the covered seating - the lawn seats had great sound, easy access to the plaza (food, drink, and bathrooms) and it was a lovely night. This was my first time at the Ampitheater and I must say I was impressed. From the parking to the seating to the sound it was all very well done. Typical of these events however, the food and drink were atrociously over priced - $34 for a burger and fries, hot dog and fries, 2 water bottles, and a pop. Although I did not partake, the beer was $8 a glass.
Over all, I am VERY pleased with the show. Bring binoculars, ear plugs for my daughter (she spent a great deal of time plugging her delicate ears), and an extra blanket - my daughter got pretty cold. Anything I'd change for next time?
